FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ALIO Industries Announces Completion of Industry Leading Process Development Tool for FUJIFILM Dimatix’ Advanced Development Facility

New tool enables Dimatix to jet fluids over large surface areas with previously unattainable drop placement accuracy by combining ALIO Industries precision motion control with Dimatix’ leading-edge, drop-on-demand inkjet technology.

Denver, CO, April 27, 2008 – ALIO Industries and FUJIFILM Dimatix have partnered to design and build a large scale process development system for Dimatix’ next generation inkjet printhead development.  This tool represents the collaborative design and engineering efforts of ALIO and Dimatix and combines industry leading motion control with state-of-the art, drop-on-demand printhead technology for jetting picoliter size droplets with sub-micron precision over a large surface area.

ALIO and FUJIFILM Dimatix jointly designed this new development tool based on their respective patented technologies, intellectual properties and core competencies. ALIO Industries manufactures nano-precision robotics and motions system for atmospheric, high vacuum and ultra-high vacuum environments. FUJIFILM Dimatix is the leading manufacturer of industrial piezoelectric, drop-on-demand inkjet printheads, components and systems for graphics and materials deposition applications.

ALIO has implemented its patent pending air bearing solution on a two meter by two meter isolated granite structure weighing over 10,000 lbs. The system delivers better than 600 nanometers of linear accuracy per axis over a full meter of travel with ALIO standard linear encoders system and less than 1 arc second of pitch, yaw and roll. FUJIFILM Dimatix has integrated its patented inkjet deposition technology with ALIO’s precision motion control system such that the development tool is capable of depositing picoliter size droplets of a broad range of functional fluids with excellent drop-on-drop repeatability.

The system resides at FUJIFILM Dimatix’ Advanced Development facility in Santa Clara, California and will be used for furthering the development of its new printheads, process development and jetting fluids qualification.

“It is clear that tools like this will play a disruptive role in many applications across multiple industries enabling new technologies, processes and products previously not thought possible”, Said ALIO Industries’ CEO Bill Hennessey.

“This project has been extremely gratifying because both companies have brought together their industry leading capabilities and technologies to produce a system that is unparalleled in terms of its precision” said Dan Crews, Project Manager with ALIO Industries.

“With the development of our 1-picoliter jetting capability for materials deposition, new tools were needed to test and verify printhead performance against application requirements. We undertook this joint development with ALIO because there were no tools available to meet our stringent requirement. We are pleased by the results of our collaboration and meeting of our design objectives” said Dan West, Systems Engineering Manager, Dimatix.
